I’m happy to welcome Rodger Deevers from Deevers & Sons Inc. to the show! Today, we’re talking about having a financial plan for your future.

Rodger and I initially started working together when I hired him to assist me with planning for my financial future. I’ve known Rodger for a few years. We originally met at Crossfit Evivva in Eugene. Rodger and I really got to know each other when we ran a group running relay called the Ragnar Relay. It was a couple hundred miles and we were all stuffed into a couple of vans for 2 days. A fun filled adventure for sure!

Beyond his ability to run 25-30 miles in a 30-hour time frame, I found out Rodger knows a lot about the financial industry. He has been in the financial planning business since 1994 — 23 years! As a local Eugene area family owned and operated business Rodger isn’t your typical “Financial Guy.” He has character and depth to him. Rodger only cares about doing what’s right for your future. He is passionate about having a plan to ensure that future can happen.

Beyond being a financial planner Rodger has a very interesting passion and you notice it as soon as you walk into his office.  His office is super comfortable especially for the average guy like myself as I don’t feel like I need to put my dress clothes on to have a meeting with him. The first thing you will notice when you sit down in Rodger’s office is his art. He is an amazing artist!  As I looked around, I asked him if he had painted all these cool, yet professional looking cartoon-like paintings I was seeing?  He said, “Yes.” I asked how he learned to paint. Rodger said he just picked it up over the years.  Just picked it up over the years?!? I remember thinking, I’ve picked up a lot of things over the years, but this was an amazing skill and talent that he seemed to have mastered.  I know to master a skill and be great at it, it typically takes about  10,000 hours of time and practice.  I instantly realize that I want Rodger to be my financial guy.  He not only has grit, but also perseverance.  Like his art, he has a passion for helping people map out a financial plan for their future.  He is willing to dedicate his time and put in the necessary hours to master a skill that he is passionate about.  That to me always translates over to business.  Knowing someone has what it takes to master a skill, I knew he would do the same for me in successfully planning my financial future.

This episode runs right at 44 minutes.  We jump around a lot of different topics.  I think when you listen to this episode you will realize Rodger perhaps has more depth to him than the average financial planner.  He is passionate about anything he does.
